9. Chewing gum

Are you surprised? Well, you shouldn’t be. The reason for chewing gum to cause gas is the same as for hard candy and sodas – chewing will make you swallow higher amounts of air, and then, well, you know the deal.

Also, producers use sugar alcohols like xylitol, sorbitol, and mannitol to make gum taste sweet, and all these compounds are quite hard to digest. The only solution here would be to chew less gum to reduce gas – after all, you don’t need gum to survive, do you?
