Consumed for more than two thousand years, cloves are aromatic flower buds that grow from the clove tree (Syzygiumaromaticum). Originating from Indonesia, this spice is widely available throughout the entire year and is very popular in the African, Asian and Middle East culinary cultures.

But the use of cloves is not restricted to the kitchen. In addition to being used as an ingredient in some types of cigarettes (commonly referred to as cigars in the United States of America), as an ant repellent, or in air fresheners as a fragrance, cloves have also been long-used in traditional medicine to cure a wide variety of ailments.
