#1 – Lack/excess of sleep

everyone knows the importance of having a good night sleep. For most healthy people, that good night’s sleep means at least 7 and a half hours of uninterrupted rest. Although it may affect your mood the next day, it is normal to have a difficult night once in a while.

But if you find yourself constantly having trouble falling asleep, waking up several times during the night and staying up for long periods, or simply not putting enough sleeping hours due to a busy schedule, you better ask for help.

Lack of sleep leads to a decrease in working capacity, affects your metabolism and immune system, and could seriously damage your mental health: depression, for instance, is closely related to chronic lack of sleep, but the opposite is also valid.

Oversleeping can have similar effects on your body as sleeping too little. Some known issues of oversleeping are: increased risk of diabetes, obesity, morning headaches, back pain, depression, and heart diseases.

Multiple studies also have found that people who regularly sleep more than 9 hours have higher death rates than people sleeping 7-8 hours. Although no specific reason for this correlation has been determined, you might want to stick with 8 hours sleeping schedule.
