#5 – Blood in the Stool

When you have unexplained bleeding on your feces is always cause for concern. If you find dark, almost black blood in your stool, or if you have bloody diarrhea, you should consult your GP immediately – it could be Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis or, at worst, colon cancer.

There are many other possible reasons for rectal bleeding such as hemorrhoids, fistulas, fissures, diverticulitis, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, gastroenteritis, sexually transmitted infection or polyps. In any case, you should always be aware of your stools, especially when your intestinal transit is alert.

 The Appearance Of Stools
The shape and consistency of the stool indicate whether or not you are in good health. If the stools are too thin or thick it is a sign that your intestines are not working properly and this may be a sign of poor diet, low water intake, polyps and, in extreme cases, colon cancer.

 The Color Of Stools

On the other hand, the color of the stool is also an indicator of your general health and may reveal numerous complications or warning signs of numerous diseases. If, for example, the stools are brown (almost reddish black) it may mean that there is blood inside the digestive tract. If they are white or pale in color it is a sign that the liver has stopped working (one of the worst liver cancer symptoms).

 The Texture Of The Stool

The presence of too much mucus in the stool may indicate that it is inflammation, as in Crohn’s disease.
After evaluating all of these stool conditions, your doctor can help you get the best treatment or surgery, if appropriate.
