As we get older, our skin gradually becomes dull, stiff, and wrinkled, especially in the face and neck region. This is a natural phenomenon that is part of the aging process. However, it can be significantly accentuated and occur earlier than expected due to skincare negligence and the damage resulting from exposure to sunlight – UV radiation is the main responsible for the premature aging of the skin and face wrinkles. The face washing process is one of the most important skincare routines to keep our face skin healthy and young-looking for longer. Taking good care of your face skin doesn’t mean constantly washing it and applying dozens of different specialized products three times a day. Here’s why washing your face only once a day might be what you need to achieve glowing, healthy skin and avoid a series of skin problems.

1. You’ll get less oily skin

When you wash your face too often (especially if you always do it with harsh substances), you are essentially removing from its surface oils meant to keep water inside your skin – which is essential to keep it hydrated. This will force your organism to produce more sebum to maintain the moisture trapped inside the skin. This overproduction of sebum can potentially make your skin look greasy and oily. So, even though it may seem counter-intuitive, washing your face only once per day can make it look less oily and maintain it properly hydrated.

2. You’ll prevent premature skin aging

One of the main goals of cleansing and exfoliation is precisely removing the layer of dead skin cells from the face skin. This process makes your face look a lot better in the short-term, that’s for sure. But doing it too often can do more harm than good. You see, this layer of dead skin cells acts as a protective coating that keeps your skin safer from the damage of external factors, such as UV radiation and environmental pollution. If you’re constantly removing this protective coating, your new skin cells will always be exposed to environmental damage, making your face skin more vulnerable and prone to premature aging.
