4. Chest pain

There are several reasons why rheumatoid arthritis can lead to chest pain. The most common one is because it may lead to costochondritis, an inflammation of the cartilage in the area where the ribs attach to the breast bone. RA can also put you at risk of developing pleurisy and heart disease. Both these conditions have chest pain as a common symptom. Chest pain is simply one of those signs that should get you to see a doctor as soon as possible.

5. Numbness and tingling

Earlier in this article, we mentioned carpal tunnel syndrome as a potential complication of rheumatoid arthritis. This syndrome can be responsible for a peculiar feeling of numbness, tingling, and weakness on the side area of the hand (alongside the thumb). Additionally, rheumatoid arthritis can also cause damage to other small nerves in the hands or feet, as well as numbness, tingling, pain, and a burning sensation. Keep in mind that symptoms can change from one patient to another and depending on the stage of the condition. Besides all the symptoms aforementioned, you also have to take into account the most obvious ones, like joint stiffness, pain, and swelling. Furthermore, rheumatoid arthritis patients are also more prone to developing all types of infections because their immune system is compromised.
