Quarantines are not as terrifying as sci-fi movies make them look, but if it’s a new experience, it might not be super easy to deal with as well. To help you out, we bring you information that we deem important when self-quarantining. What does quarantine mean? First of all, it is important to be able to tell the difference between isolation and quarantine. An individual is isolated if they have contracted any disease that might be infectious to others, and they are kept separate from the rest of the people not only to prevent the disease from spreading but to allow them to recover from the condition. Quarantine, on the other hand, serves as a way to promote social distancing by restricting the movements of anyone who might have been in contact with someone who had a contagious disease. Different diseases take a different number of days to manifest, and that is the number of days people should be quarantined for. It might seem crazy, but it is important to monitor the appearance of possible symptoms to prevent further contamination. What to do during quarantine? It is really important to find out how to manage stress during quarantine and how to have fun alone – and these two often go hand in hand. However, if you are quarantined, you are probably doing it for public health reasons, and social responsibility should always be your main concern during these trying times. We leave you with a list of things you should do during your quarantine.

1. Do Not Leave Your Home

If you are quarantined, you are not supposed to leave your home. This sounds pretty much like common sense, but some people look at a quarantine like a vacation, and that is super wrong. Avoid leaving your house unless there is something you really need to do, like shop for groceries or going to the doctors. But if you have the chance to have your groceries delivered, or to call a doctor and have an appointment in your home, do it.
