5. Breast Milk – Always Protect Your Baby!
Many mothers freeze and store breast milk in small containers in the refrigerator for future use – and so far so good. However, they should never be reheated in the microwave because this appliance heats food unevenly (some parts are colder and others are warmer). Have you seen the damage that too hot milk can do to a baby’s mouth and throat? It’s not even worth imagining! Also, the carcinogenic risk that comes from reheating plastic containers is worth considering. To heat breast milk, place the milk bottle inside a pan on the stove or with hot tap water.
4. Rice – Food Poisoning
Microwave rice is one of the most dangerous and harmful foods for your diet, as it can cause you to suffer from food poisoning. And this happens due to the presence of the bacterium Bacillus Cereus. This bacterium is eliminated by heat, but, at the same time, it can produce toxic spores that contaminate the natural properties of the grains, causing food poisoning. How many times can you reheat foods? You can reheat leftovers as many times as you like, as long as they are always fresh and properly stored – even though you know that this will take away much of its nutritional properties. But in the case of rice, you should not do it often because if the rice has traces of this type of toxic spores, they will multiply easily and you will suffer from it. If you have eaten contaminated rice, it is natural that you suffer from diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting, among other specific symptoms of food poisoning.
3. Green Leaves – Have You Heard of Nitrosamines?
If you store celery, spinach, kale, among other leafy greens that have already been used in the refrigerator to eat later or to accompany other meals, there is no problem with that. In fact, a good healthy diet should be accompanied by these foods, as they make your metabolism and digestion work better. However, if you heat them in the microwave, nitrates from green leaves, for example, would convert into nitrosamines and these can be carcinogenic and cause you numerous health problems. So never microwave these foods if you care about your health.
