3. Losing water weight When you have little to no carbs for a while, your body loses water weight first as carbs hold a lot of water. This is particularly true in the first weeks of your no carb diet when you lose water weight quickly as a result of insulin going down and kidneys shedding excess sodium from your body. So, how much water weight do you have to lose to start losing fat? That all depends on several factors, including your body composition and size. 4. Change in cravings  At first, on a no carb diet, you will crave more carbs but don’t give up just yet. When you go a long time without carbs, your cravings start to change, and you no longer crave those sugary pastries you once did.  You can replace those unhealthy simple carbs with healthier ones from some fruits and vegetables. You will soon start craving other healthier food options. 5. Bad breath  Losing water weight due to a no carb diet, as we mentioned earlier, can cause dry mouth and hence bad breath!  That is due to ketones, chemicals that are released in your breath when your body burns fat, and that smell like rotten fruit!
