4. Whitening strips

Whitening strips became incredibly popular in recent times. This product contains hydrogen peroxide and aims to whiten the teeth. However, an observational study published in 2009 found that pyrophosphate whitening strips can lower the risk of tartar formation by up to 30%. Of course, a single study is not enough to claim that these specific types of whitening strips (that contain pyrophosphate) can effectively prevent tartar… but it is a good start.

5. Visit the dentist regularly

Seriously. Oral problems develop relatively quickly and usually go unnoticed. You should visit a dentist at least once a year (some experts even recommend once every six months), even if apparently nothing is wrong with your oral health. Regular checkups are essential to detect and treat conditions before they become dangerous.  You might think these visits to the dentist will cost a lot of money, but if you think about the cost of some dental treatments, you’ll forget about the price of a checkup in the blink of an eye.
