#4 – Try breathing exercises

Another method that is recommended by experts to help you fall asleep fast, and probably even stay asleep, is breathing exercises.

Some of the known breathing exercises that have proved to be effective include:

The 4-7-8 breathing technique: Exhale completely and breathe in slowly and quietly for 4 seconds. Then, hold your breath for 7 seconds before exhaling for a full 8 seconds. Repeat this technique 4 or even 8 times which will help you relax and fall asleep faster.

The Bhramari pranayama breathing exercise: Sit with your back straight, relax your shoulders, close your eyes and cover your ears. Inhale deeply and breathe out through your nostrils while keeping your mouth closed.

Next, put a bit of pressure with your fingers on your brow area and the side of your nose. This breathing technique reduces your breathing and heart rate to help you relax and sleep deeply. Repeat it 5 times for more effectiveness.

The alternate nostril breathing exercise: Sit with your legs crossed, place your left hand on your left knee and use your right thumb to close your right nostril.

Inhale through your left nostril and exhale through it before closing it. Next, inhale through your right nostril while keeping your left one closed. Continue this alternation for 5 minutes to relieve stress and fall asleep easily.

Who needs sleeping pills when these three breathing techniques can help you sleep like a baby!
