#3 – Don’t stay in bed

If you still can’t sleep even after trying to distract yourself from worries and thoughts about lack of sleep and insomnia, get off the bed that instant!

Sleep problems or disorders like insomnia worsen when you spend time lying awake in bed. In other words, you feel “tired but wired.”

So, if you cannot sleep within 20 minutes or more, leave your bed, drink a warm glass to help yourself relax more, or try sleeping on the couch for a change.

If you spend your entire day off in bed doing anything from watching series on Netflix, eating, reading, or even working on a project, you may have a hard time sleeping at night because you’re starting to subconsciously associate your bed, a place to fall asleep, with daytime activity and wakefulness.
